Sesame Street is an American educational children's television series that combines live action, sketch comedy, animation and puppetry. Sesame characters, and the puppeteers and executives behind them, have focused increasingly on activism, with Sesame Street residents playing roles in policy-making around the world.
Sesame Workshop is currently working with AT&T and Walgreens to encourage families to cope up with the different lifestyle transitions. Los Angeles was named one of just three communities selected for the Sesame Street in Communities pilot program in 2017, and since then, Sesame Workshop and its partners have focused on raising awareness about adverse childhood experiences and the impact of traumatic experiences on young children, in addition to oral health. Through our traumatic experiences initiative, Sesame is going directly into communities to help kids and families get through tough situations and come out the other side stronger. For almost 40 of those years, Martin P. Robinson has played some of the show's beloved characters. The Muppets are a group of puppet characters created by Jim Henson, many for the purpose of appearing on the children's television program Sesame Street.Henson's involvement in Sesame Street began when he and Joan Ganz Cooney, one of the creators of the show, met in the summer of 1968, at one of the show's five three-day curriculum planning seminars in Boston.
